Emphasis on doing things leisurely and really making the most of this inland ocean.

Tanganyika Thrills

Lake Tanganyika is the world’s longest, oldest and second deepest lake, with numerous endemic fish, bird, plant and wildlife. It also serves as Tanzania’s western border with the Congo and borders some of the most remote parts of the country. It shores a few unique and precious National Parks in the form of Gombe, Mahale Mountains & Katavi.

Tanganyika Thrills is an awesome experience in every aspect. The options available on this safari are what make it special. It is not only about cruising the lake waters, but includes visiting waterfalls (Kalambo Falls - Africa’s 2nd highest), game viewing, trekking chimpanzees, fishing and just immersing yourself into the remoteness and adventure of western Tanzania. Best of all is that you choose the options.

From Start to Finish

The safari is offered as a two week package and can be run along the entire Tanzanian stretch of Lake Tanganyika or just partially, depending on the specific itinerary of the safari. The starting point of the cruise also depends on the specific plan and can be launched in the north or south of the lake.

Main mode of transport will be by motor-driven boat, but there will be 4x4 vehicle support for land excursions. Most of the nights will be spent camping, but there is access to a few lodges and luxury tented camps along the lake, which will be utilized in accordance to the final safari plan.

Your team of professional safari staff will be on hand to make sure your experience is a positive and memorable one and will run operations to ensure all your needs are attended.
