This is a 7-day safari designed for people looking to experience real Africa through its’ rural lifeline – rivers! The Kilombero River Float is short, affordable and goes through some of the wildest country in Tanzania, where you will get a very different perspective of progress and development in the third world. In this stretch of rivers, fishing, hunting and gathering is still order of the day. Experience wilderness, solitude, scenery, serenity, people, culture, wildlife and nature like you have never imagined...
The Kilombero Float begins at the confluence of the Pitu and Ruhudji Rivers, downstream through the Kilombero Game Controlled Area, which is now a RAMSAR wetland site of International importance. After navigating the Ruhudji River, you follow the main channel of the Kilombero until a halfway point in the middle of the Kilombero Valley. The Float continues down the main channel to the confluence of all major channels where the Kilombero River becomes the dominant river. The Kilombero Float ends where the Kilombero River meets the boundary of the world famous Selous Game Reserve.
During the safari, you can expect to see wildlife, birdlife, get involved in fishing, walking excursions, tree climbing, interact with the local tribes and visit villages and settlements along the route. Your team of safari staff will keep you busy with safari duties and informed on the operations, sights, sounds and wholesome experience of the safari.
